Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 unveiled
[12.20.00] » First screenshots of Enix's monster breeding sequel, plus new gameplay details.
Enix today revealed the first screenshots of the Dragon Warrior Monsters 2, as well as additional details on the new features fans can expect to see in the sequel.
As previously reported, the game will appear in two separate versions: Ruka's Journey Begins and Iru's Adventure, each with a different protagonist. The two characters are the children of the owners of a monster breeding ground; Ruka is the older brother and Iru the younger sister. Ruka's adventure features more aggressive monsters, while Iru's includes more defense- or healing-oriented ones. The total monster roster has also been increased from 250 monsters to over 300; the additions include both Dragon Warrior VII creatures and brand new Toriyama creations.
Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 looks to feature a much greater emphasis on exploration. The heroes can now venture outside of Marta (known as GreatLog in the English version) and travel the surrounding lands. New worlds are unlocked by collecting Mysterious Keys and discovering their names -- a key won't function until you learn its name.
