Shin Megami Tensei games bound for PSX
[12.14.00] » Three Super Famicom RPG classics make the jump to Sony's system, but is there any chance for a jump to the U.S.?
Atlus today announced that it will release PlayStation versions of three of its classic Super Famicom RPGs: Shin Megami Tensei, Shin Megami Tensei II, and Shin Megami Tensei: If.... All three titles are part of Atlus' long-running Megami Tensei series (known as Revelations in North America), which also includes such titles as Persona, Soul Hackers, and The Demon Slayer. Shin MegaTen I and II are set in a futuristic Japan, while If... is set in a modern-day school like the subsequent Persona games.
It's not yet clear whether the PSX releases will be remakes or just direct ports of the Super Famicom originals; expect more details soon. No word on a stateside release, though chances are dim considering the upcoming en masse shift to the PS2.
