Final Fantasy X to make new public showing?

[12.11.00] » Jump Festa 2001 to preview new releases in anime, comics, and most importantly, games.

Due to its great popularity last year, Jump Magazine, Japan's biggest weekly comics omnibus, is holding Jump Festa 2001 on the 23rd and 24th of December. While the main attraction is its anime and comics, there will be a significant showing of videogames in development.

Among the numerous companies showing off their new games will be Sony with a screening of the opening footage of its action RPG Dark Cloud; Tecmo, with Monster Rancher 3; and Enix, with a playable demo of Dragon Quest Monsters 2, the two-part sequel to last year's Pokemon-inspired Gameboy Color RPG.

However, the biggest news might be from Square -- not the playable demonstration of "RPG Action" game The Bouncer, but a reliable rumor suggesting that it is highly likely Final Fantasy X will be shown at the Festival. This would come as welcome news to many, as the latest game in Square's flagship series has been long shrouded in secrecy.

Expect to see more information once the festival begins.
