Multimedia Grand Prix 2000, an honors group designed to recognize accomplishments in the field of digital media, presented its annual awards on Thursday. The winner of the entertainment award was the critically-acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, while famed Final Fantasy producer Hironobu Sakaguchi received the Chairman's Award for special achievement. Sakaguchi spoke about his groundbreaking work on Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, and the trailer for the CG feature was played as well.
"We have been working hard on the Final Fantasy movie for three and a half years now, and it's been a very hard journey to get to this level. However, I believe it will be warmly welcomed around the world as Japan's first full-CG movie," Sakaguchi said.
SCEI's Bikkuri Mouse for the PlayStation 2 was the other award recipient, winning in the interactive category.
