Resident Evil 2 & 3, Dino Crisis headed to Dreamcast

[10.11.00] » Super Dino Evil Crisis II Turbo Championship Edition expected to follow.

In a move that will likely shock fans of the company, Capcom has announced they will be porting three of their most popular games to a new platform with updated graphics and a few gameplay tweaks. Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and Dino Crisis are all headed back to the US this holiday season, this time on the Sega Dreamcast.

Though the ports are most obviously targeted at those who somehow avoided "survival horror" in the past, a few new elements are being added as well. Resident Evil 2 will have all the extra modes and features of its four previous versions, such as Extreme Battle and Arranged modes, as well as a newly added art gallery. The hidden Mercenaries game is now accessible from the start of Resident Evil 3, and the players will be able to outfit Jill Valentine in one of eight costumes. Dino Crisis, however, looks to remain largely unchanged from its PlayStation outing, but, as in the other two ports, the VMU can now be used to monitor the main character's status. Of course, all three games will be receiving a slight graphical facelift and quicker loading times for their trip to the Dreamcast.

Of these three, Resident Evil 2 and Dino Crisis are already out in Japan, with Resident Evil 3: Nemesis to follow in November. No word yet on an exact US date for any of these titles, but expect all of them to arrive sooner rather than later.
