Fire Emblem 64 officially cancelled
[10.02.00] » Yet another RPG that began life on the 64DD
goes to that bulky drive in the sky.
Gamers following the sad career of the N64 add-on disk
drive, the 64DD, will remember a slew of promising titles that were
either moved to cartridge format, canceled, or moved to cart and then
canceled. Intelligent Systems' long running, Japan-only Fire Emblem
series was no exception, having jumped ship from the 64DD to a standard
Nintendo 64 title. However, Intelligent Systems today announced that
the indefinitely-delayed Fire Emblem 64 has been canned, with the
development company shifting its attention to other projects.
Though Fire Emblem has yet to make an appearance
in the US, optimistic American gamers can still hope for a stateside
release of the Game Boy Advance sequel. The new sequel, currently titled Shrine of Fire Emblem, is set
for a Spring 2001 release in Japan.
