Phantasy Star Online worldwide release dates set
[09.26.00] » Phantasy Star goes online in Japan this year, and with a special VMU in tow. As for the American market...
Originally slated for worldwide release sometime early next year, Sega of Japan has now confirmed that Phantasy Star Online will ship in Japan on December 21. Sega of America followed suit by confirming a North American release date of January next year, a few weeks after the Japanese release. According to a SOA representative, "We wanted to do a bit more beta testing (before the US release)."
In addition, Sega of Japan has jumped on the Limited Edition bandwagon, and will release a Phantasy Star Online Limited Edition package. While complete details for the limited edition are still up in the air, the newly announced 4x VMU will be included, giving gamers extra space for their online character creations. Unfortunately, North American fans anticipating a limited edition of their own may have a long wait ahead of them, as Sega of America has confirmed neither such a package or the new VMU.
