Konami shows Red at ECTS

[09.04.00] » The previously controversial game is apparently not so controversial any more.

    While Konami's PS2 games such as Metal Gear Solid 2 and Shadow of Memories were expected to be on the ECTS floor, Konami made a slightly surprising move by also showing their WWII mech title Ring of Red (possibly known as Red for the U.S.). When it was first publicly revealed at the last Tokyo Game Show, international press members were forbidden to take media of it, and it was absent from the international press kit. Konami believed that the game's highly political story might not make a good impression on English speaking gamers, and said that a release of the game outside of Japan was "highly unlikely." Konami has yet to provide any hints as to why the change of heart occurred, but nevertheless, gamers should be happy to see another tactical mech game in English.

    Although no North American release has been announced, it can be assumed that Konami will likely add the game to its already large PS2 lineup. Ring of Red is set for a winter release in Japan, while the European Red does not currently have a release date.
