KonamiStyle.com announces Dance Dance Revolution deluxe pad

[08.29.00] » For the Bemani fan with more dollars than sense.

Konamistyle.com, Konami's new direct consumer goods website, recently unveiled a hard-bodied, full-size, arcade-style Dance Dance Revolution pad for the Sony PlayStation. This mat's thick, metal construction and weight (about 20 lbs.) makes it the ultimate peripheral for the dance-minded Bemaniac. But at what price glory? Konami estimates this special controller will cost 198,000 yen, or about $1850 USD. The number of pads to be produced will be determined by the number of preorders received by konamistyle.com. If the pad does not receive at least 100 orders, it will not be produced at all. If more than 100 people order one, however, everyone who places an order will receive a pad.

If you're going to spend nearly two thousand dollars on a dancing pad, you'll probably want to use it for more than just Dance Dance Revolution. Konamistyle.com has several suggestions for potential activities, including:

  • You're just not satisfied with the regular controller (people call you insane)
  • You want to show off in front of your friends (and have a blast together)
  • You want to make it part of your room's interior (you don't like being like everyone else)
  • You want to turn it into a fitness machine with DDR 3rd Mix (getting fit while looking cool)
  • You want to sit on top of it and meditate (???)
