Working Designs announces first two PS2 titles

[08.16.00] » RPG fans can hang their heads in disappointment.

The recent surprise addition of a PlayStation 2 launch title to the Working Designs release list had gamers excited about the prospect of a launch RPG from the company. It was assumed that it couldn't be a shooter, as Working Designs releases shooters exclusively under their Spaz sublabel. The titles have been announced, though, and RPGs they are not.

Working Designs plans to release the first two GameArts PS2 games, Gungriffon: Blaze and Silpheed: The Lost Planet. Both games are in a shooter vein (which means they fall out of the GIA's normal realm of coverage), with Gungriffon being a mech simulation game and Silpheed being a top-down shooter. It appears that WD will shut down their Spaz label after the release of RayCrisis for the PlayStation.

For those interested in the two titles, both will be available, along with the PlayStation 2 system, on October 26. Interested parties can also check out previous releases in both of the respective series on either Saturn (Gungriffon) or Sega CD (Silpheed).
