Dance Dance Revolution U.S. bound

[08.15.00] » The beginning of an American Bemani craze?

Bemani, the Japanese name for Konami's music titles, is all the rage is Japan. For some time it seemed the U.S. would never have the opportunity to experience this phenomenon, but the release of Samba de Amigo, a maraca shaking enigma, seems to have paved the way for an American Bemani invasion.

Sources have revealed that Konami plans to bring Dance Dance Revolution to U.S. homes in January 2001. It is unknown yet whether the necessary dancing pad will be bundled with the game or sold separately. The music for Dance Dance Revolutions's U.S. release will also differ from its Japanese counterpart, in hopes of appealing to U.S. gamers' musical tastes.

It seems that companies are starting to take bigger risks in the American market - games like Samba de Amigo and Dance Dance Revolution could very well prove the beginning of a Bemani craze to rival Japan's. So get your two left feet into shape if you want to groove come January.
