Enix announces Bust-a-Move: Dance Summit 2001 for PlayStation 2
[08.15.00] » And before you ask, yes, it's the dancing one.
Enix recently revealed their first PlayStation 2 title that the Western world will actually care about (besides the incredibly exciting 0 Story). While previously rumored to be in development, it has been confirmed that the company will be bringing out the third game in the Bust A Move series (Bust A Groove in North America) for Sony's new system.
Titled Bust-a-Move: Dance Summit 2001, the new game promises to once again improve on the systems of the previous titles by adding not one, not two, but six more dancers at a time. As seen in the shots below, the new title will feature the option to dance on teams of four, with bonus "Combination Dance" points to earn when your dancers are able to coordinate styles. The dancer vs. dancer mode will still be retained, though, for
hardcore old-school Groovers. Also, while no actual names have been revealed, Enix has confirmed that 16 dancers will be available initially (and thus 4 different teams to choose from), with more to be unlocked as you play through the game.
Enix has yet to announce any plans to port the title overseas, but with their upcoming release of Bust-a-Groove 2 for the original PlayStation, Dance Summit 2001 has a good chance of getting a North American release. Eager dancers can get ahold of the Japanese version when it ships in Japan this fall.
