Parasite Eve movie to get North American release
[07.17.00] » ADV Films to plans to bring the original live action film to America, along with the Wild ARMs and Arc the Lad anime.
ADV Films announced at the recent Anime Expo 2000 that they would be localizing and releasing several game-based movies that have never seen the light outside of Japan. The most noteworthy of the bunch is the 1997 live action film Parasite Eve. Based on the Japanese novel of the same name, the original movie tells the story of the original Eve, a story that is only briefly mentioned in the game. The movie will receive a limited theatrical run, followed by a DVD release. No information has been revealed as to how the film will presented, be it through subtitles or dubbing.
Also on ADV's slate are two animated movies based on existing games. Both Wild ARMs and Arc the Lad movies are scheduled for localization, and will likely be released on DVD. Again, no word on whether these releases will have English or Japanese dialogue.
Parasite Eve will have its American premiere at downtown Houston's Angelika Film Center & Cafe on July 28th, and will then be released on DVD after a short theatrical run. No specific dates have been announcd for the two animated features, though they are expected within the next few months.
