Hoshigami lives

[07.12.00] » Former Quest team members' latest SRPG heads back on track after vanishing for nearly half a year.

When Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth was originally announced, the game quickly reached the top of many strategy RPG fans' want lists. Given the list of titles for which many members of the team behind Hoshigami have been responsible (including the Ogre Battle series and Final Fantasy Tactics), the heavy anticipation surrounding the title came as no surprise. Unfortunately, Hoshigami had all but vanished since its initial announcement. Many had assumed that the project had been canceled, and that Hoshigami was no longer under development. However, the GIA has learned that, albeit quietly, Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth is indeed still being prepared for release, and should hit Japan sometime during fall 2000. While no details regarding an American release have surfaced (and at this point, chances are slim), there's still hope that an American publishing company such as Atlus or Working Designs could consider the title for domestication.

Newly discovered Hoshi character information reveals information about four of the game's central characters. Let it first be said that the game continues the time-honored RPG tradition of bizarrely-named characters: Fazz, the game's hero apparent, is a sincere and charismatic, but occasionally a bit clumsy and impulsive. Two other characters, Tin and Raymarie, are friends of Fazz's. Tin is a tomboyish young lady with a streak of naivete, and her impertinence occasionally lands her in trouble, while Raymarie is a softspoken spear master who shares a good-natured rivalry with Fazz. Last in the lineup is Mysterious Girl, whose past is...you guessed it, mysterious. Her goal is to join Fazz and his companions, but first she has to shake the pursuit of a thief named Jacqueline.
