Weekly Famitsu rates Final Fantasy IX
[06.29.00] » The weekly version of Famitsu gives the game the same score as its
PlayStation-only brother.
The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu had the magazine's long-awaited score for Square's latest epic. The result is sure to please Final Fantasy fans as the game recieved marks of 10, 10, 9, and 9 from the magazine's four reviewers, as well as earning the Platinum rating. The game is being praised on nearly
all fronts, from graphical excellence to the storyline. The only real criticism of the game to date is its slight lack of originality and innovation (read: no new convoluted systems), a fact which should actually please many fans who were disappointed with recent Final Fantasy systems, such as VIII's complicated Junction system.
Final Fantasy IX is due for release in Japan on July 7, with a North
American release to follow before the end of the year.
