Nintendo ships 100,000,000th Game Boy

[06.15.00] » Bow down before your little plastic god.

On the heels of SNK's withdrawal from the U.S. and European markets comes a new milestone for its killer -- Nintendo's Game Boy. One hundred million of the little dynamos have now been shipped worldwide, including 17.5 million in the last year alone. That's a Game Boy sold nearly every three seconds since its launch 11 years ago, making it far and away the best selling system of all time and creating a monopoly in the handheld market which would make the most hardened Justice Department lawyer cry like a little girl.

The system's next incarnation, Game Boy Advance, will be unleashed on an unsuspecting United States next year.
