PlayOnline.com launches
[06.06.00] » And you thought it'd be about PlayOnline.
Square has officially launched PlayOnline.com, and has done so with quite a bit of depth. Rather than just cover the future of PlayOnline, it seems Square may be intending to replace the game coverage sides of their current American and Japanese websites with the new PlayOnline site. In fact, actual information on PlayOnline itself and its games is mostly non-existent. A brief FAQ assures you that PlayOnline.com isn't the same as the PlayOnline service, and an interactive sample lets you see what different sections of PlayOnline may look like. However, other unexpected sections of PlayOnline are definitely worth checking out, including the first official Final Fantasy IX page. Contained within are character sketches, as well as quotes and official media. Perhaps the most interesting material is that which can be found in the "Talk" section - an interview of Hironobu Sakaguchi, conducted by none other than Yoshitika Amano.
PlayOnline.com is currently available in both English and Japanese, although two of the Final Fantasy IX sections, a second Sakaguchi interview and a Nobuo Uematsu diary, are currently only available in Japanese.
