Final Fantasy IX preorder campaign kicks off

[06.04.00] » Success would be an understatement.

Certain Japanese retailers began taking preorders for Final Fantasy IX on June 1st, and the response has been overwhelming. All Digicube servers were forced offline shortly after starting the promotion due to massive orders. Since then, the total number of preorders has exceeded 500,000 over the four days that the promotion has been running. Furthermore, many chains haven't even begun the promotion yet. Sony itself is planning to begin taking direct preorders over the Internet beginning June 10th, with many smaller retailers launching the campaign on the same day.
