Irrational Games announces The Lost
[05.30.00] » System Shock 2 developers turn sights to PS2 survival horror RPG.
Irrational Games, the developers of the futuristic PC RPG System Shock 2, have announced The Lost for the PlayStation 2. The Lost is a "survival horror RPG" set in the depths of the nine circles of Dantean Hell. Ken Levine, founder of Irrational Games, said, “The Lost will bring a harder edged feel to the survival horror genre, as well of the technological advances afforded by the PlayStation 2, such as a advanced 3D environment and full indoor/outdoor rendering."
Crave Entertainment says, "The Lost gives the player total control of both the camera and the development of his character’s skills. The player can freely change between four unique entities, each with their own strengths and weaknesses." The word "entities" implies playable non-human characters--an idea we have yet to see fully developed in an survival horror title. The Lost is due to ship for the PlayStation 2 the third quarter of 2001.
