Capcom's E3 lineup announced

[04.03.00] » Several sequels to popular games unexpectedly on display.

Capcom's method of creating long-running franchises from any profitable games may be nothing new, but the games themselves are worth looking at.

  • Mega Man Legends 2 (PlayStation, September 2000): Improved graphics, analog control added, and, amusingly enough, "twice as many towns," which fans of the original will know means "two towns."
  • Breath of Fire IV (PlayStation, September 2000): Changes to the battle system include a "tactical battle system," wherein characters in the back row will recover AP and health while resting; and a Combo System in which successive uses of magic or skills make that magic or skill more powerful.
  • Dino Crisis 2 (PlayStation, October 2000): Higher resolution characters, more dinosaurs, better aiming features.
  • Mega Man N64 (Nintendo 64, Fall 2000): a port of the original Megaman Legends for PlayStation.
  • Onimusha: Warlords (PlayStation 2, TBA): Scenario by story-writing Capcom subsidiary Flagship, featuring motion captured movements of Takeshi Kaneshiro, and features "different swords with different effects," though how those effects will be involved in gameplay is unknown.

Capcom will also be have PC ports of Resident Evil 3 and Dino Crisis on display, as well as several trademark fighting games.
