TGS: From Software debuts One/Fourth

[04.02.00] » New PS2 RPG/adventure title aims for humorous, easily playable style. 5 screens inside.

One of the more unique new titles at this year's Tokyo Game Show was One/Fourth, a new RPG/adventure game by From Software. The company already has a trio of announced PS2 games to its credit, and the makers of King's Field IV, Evergrace and Eternal Ring don't appear to be slowing down any time soon. One/Fourth places the player in the role of a fairy who leads a quartet of adventurers from battle to battle, giving orders on where they should go or whom they should fight. Only the fairy is actually under the player's control, hence the game's title.

The game largely focuses on having a short learning curve and easy to pick up gameplay. Graphically, it goes for a bit of humor, with motion blur and other special effects applied to a large number of on screen characters, while story is minimal at this point and is apparently designed mainly to avoid complicating the monster-hacking. One/Fourth was only shown on video and said to still be very early in development, look for the GIA's comprehensive preview as details emerge.
