Capcom debuts bimonthly RPG saga

[03.21.00] » Flagship and Yoshitaka Amano collaborate on a 24-episode Dreamcast saga.

Capcom today officially unveiled its new series of Dreamcast RPGs, Emblem of Eru. Featuring character designs by Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy I-VI, Vampire Hunter D) fame and scenario designs by Flagship (Dino Crisis, Zelda Tri-Force Trilogy), the story will be released as a series of bimonthly installments, each featuring its own set of characters.

The serial pacing resembles that of fellow Dreamcast epic Shen Mue: A total of 24 episodes will comprise the entire Emblem of Eru story; but, as with Shen Mue, more than one episode will be included as part of each bimonthly chapter. The first chapter, El Dorado Gate, contains the first seven episodes. The episodes may be played in any order; each is mostly independent of the others.

The story itself centers around 12 different youths, who will star in the various episodes. After the god of knowledge defeated the devil god, these youths were entrusted with various pieces of the spirit of the devil god.

El Dorado Gate will be released this summer in Japan at a retail price of 2800 yen ($26 US). Look for full coverage of the title soon.
