Konami announces PlayStation 2 strategy title
[03.15.00] » Game to feature strategic mech combat, political storyline -- but it's not Front Mission!
Konami today announced a new PlayStation 2 strategy game, titled simply "Red." Similar to Square's Front Mission, the game is set in a war-torn near-future Earth where soldiers ride giant armored mechs into combat. The story takes place in Japan, which has been divided into two nations following the Pacific War. Russia occupies the northern half, while the Allies control the south. War quickly breaks out again when the Allies develop a new type of mech known as the AFW and invade the north.
Red is due out this September in Japan; the game will debut in playable form at the Tokyo Game Show from March 31st to April 2nd.
