Breath of Fire IV U.S. bound

[02.09.00] » Groundbreaking series once again innovates in the competitive field of fishing minigames.

Long rumored and totally expected, Capcom's fourth Breath of Fire game will be coming to the U.S. Capcom currently plans for a release during late summer, but the game could ship as late as September 2000.

Most exciting, however, is Capcom's attempt to bring the series' trademark fishing games to the "next level." In recent years, high-profile titles such as Zelda 64 and Sonic Adventure have gotten in on the fishing minigame act, cutting in on what was once the Breath of Fire series' exclusive baliwick. Even the otherwise completely original Legend of Legaia borrowed one element from another RPG: a fishing minigame. Capcom's innovators worked around the clock and finally came up with the perfect solution: bigger hardware. In a move of genius that leaves other developers "reeling," Breath of Fire IV's fishing minigame will be compatible with the PlayStation's special fishing controllers. Square and Enix had no comment as the GIA went to press.
