More Grandia II story and character info

[01.30.00] » Two more playable characters announced.

In a largely futile attempt to avoid being overshadowed by Square Millennium, Game Arts has released new details on Grandia II's story and characters. As previously reported, the story begins 10,000 years in the past with a shocking original cataclysmic battle between good and evil. The battle caused many huge cracks, such as the one through the continent of Granacliff, to appear across the land. Though peace has since returned to the world, a second moon, known as Varumah, has appeared, causing people to fear that evil is using it to watch over the world.

More characters have also been revealed, though there are sadly no plant people or animated voodoo dolls. The fourth character seen in screenshots is not an anthropomorphic hawk named Sky -- it's actually Miracle, a beastman who fills the staple "Strong fighter, awful magic user" role. Predictably blunt and forceful, Miracle is on a quest to find the mysterious individual who razed his village and exact revenge.

Where, then, is Sky? He's actually named Eagley, and is the eagle seen perched on Rudo's arm. Over 40 years old, he's able to speak human the language. Eagley will participate in battles in some capacity; likely either in special attacks by Rudo or as a helpful non-combatant like Lunar's Nall.

One other character was revealed: Lauren, a character who resembles a 13 year old girl, but who is alledgedly a 13 year old boy. Lauren does not act his/her age, however; he/she is often mistaken as someone older (not to mention a member of the opposite gender). Lauren is currently on a search for certain secret treasure.
