The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine V-Jump contains word on the latest Square title to find a WonderSwan re-release: Final Fantasy IV. The game is expected to be a direct port of the original Super Famicom RPG (released as Final Fantasy II for the Super Nintendo in the US), duplicating the original's gameplay and storyline on the portable's black-and-white LCD screen. Final Fantasy IV for the WonderSwan will be published by Square of Japan in May 2000.
Final Fantasy IV is the fifth title Square is publishing for Bandai's handheld -- Final Fantasy 1, Seiken Densetsu 2, Romancing SaGa 2, and Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon 2 are all set for a Japanese release sometime in April. There's no word on whether any of the five remakes will be localized for North America when Mattel releases the WonderSwan stateside this fall.
