New Metal Gear: Ghost Babel mission and gameplay information

[01.25.00] » Jungle location similar to original game; two-player "battle" mode less so.

Hearkening back to the original Outer Heaven base in Metal Gear, the GBC title is set in a jungle installation. Once again, Snake will have to move through the vegetation to the base, finding weapons and items in trucks along the way. From there, he'll search for the correct road to the fortress and sneak inside, while avoiding security cameras and guards. Once in, he'll have to contact Chris Jenna, the last remnant of the original Delta Force team to infiltrate the base. From her, he learns of Dr. Hochs and the newest version of his old nemesis, the Metal Gear.

Though this simplification of the plot is common to all games in the series, for the first time there will be a two-player mode through the Link Cable. Each player controls Snake in an effort to obtain three data discs and find the exit, reminiscent of the old NES Spy vs. Spy games. Discs are obtained either by finding them or killing the other player in possession of them, upon which the disc will reappear in a random location. Once all three discs are found, the player made proceed to the exit--provided they can figure out which exit is the real one before the time limit runs out.
