Jet Grind Radio Reminds Me of My Drive to Work This Morning

by Anoop 't Hooft

When I was driving to work today, a cop pulled me over and gave me a speeding ticket for going 5 miles per hour over the speed limit. Only 5 miles per hour! Isn't there something better he could have been doing with his time? For example, he could be playing Sega's latest masterpiece, Jet Grind Radio.

It's funny, Jet Grind Radio actually reminds me a lot of what happened to me today. See, in Jet Grind Radio, these cops, led by the evil, corrupt Chief Onishima, are always chasing after the cool GGs gang: Beat, Tab, and Gum. (I should note that other characters, like Cube and Combo, join the GGs later.)

The only difference is that in Jet Grind Radio, you can run away and skate through four massive cities. You can even do tricks to earn extra points. Boy, I wish I could do that in real life. Because when that cop pulled me over today, I was just wishing I could just tag him and speed away like Tab and Gum would. Of course, then Officer Graves -- I think that was his name -- would have sent his helicopters and tear gas squads after me. But I bet I know more secret shortcuts through the city then he does, like the one where you drive up the crane and use it to jump the overpass.

Speaking of which, I wish they'd hurry up and fix that hole in the road. It's right in the way when I try to drive to the Japanese book store and pick up the latest Sailor Moon manga on my way home. One time I even took the detour and got completely lost. I ended up not even picking up the manga at all that week -- and it was a really cool too one, too; the one where Ami gets her Mercury Aqua Cataclysm spell. Sigh.

Now where was I? Oh yeah, Jet Grind Radio. I think I was supposed to be writing a review of it or something, so I'd better get back to work. Later.
