Sidequest 2 The Lighthouse More...

ITEMS TO GET: DeathBlower3, DeathBlower2, SurvivalTent, DeathBlower1, G-Godfather, Z Charger, Mermaid Ring

Fly to the large, empty, landmass north of Aquvy. On the northwest corner of this island is a lighthouse that doesn't show up on your map (though it does after you've been there once). Bring Emeralda along and enter the lighthouse. Hop in the elevator and ride down, and you'll end up in some Zeboim ruins.

The enemies down here are a piece of cake if you're on your Gears; most of them are character-sized. The only tough ones are the Gear-sized Dragons and Griffons, but they're still not too tough (as long as you're on your Gears... they're deadly if you're on foot).

Go south down the street until you reach a chest with a DeathBlower3. Get it, then go right to a four-way intersection. Head south and follow the loop for a DeathBlower2, then return to the intersection. Go north and you'll see two lighted doorways. Hop off your Gears and enter the northern doorway. There's a save point here, and a chest with a SurvivalTent. Upstairs, you'll find a bunch of monitors, examine the northeast-most one to see some clips of Zeboim's history.

Leave the TV studio the way you came in and go through the doorway just to the south. You won't switch to a separate screen; run around in the invisible path and keep hitting X until you open the chest with the G-Godfather, the best Gear gun. Then exit out of the north side of the tunnel and get back in your Gears. Cross the street, get out again, and enter the door. Here you'll find Big Joe, surrounded by four chests. The chests just contain garbage items (oddly enough, they'll reset every time you leave the Lighthouse and come back), but if you talk to Big Joe, you can buy items and Gear parts from him. He sells the best armor in the game; get the Z Alloy80/30 (for its Ether Defense), and also buy the high-level frames for Stier and Siebzehn. Also, if you can afford it, get a GNRS50 (or even a GNRS20)... it boosts your engine output by a whopping 50%, which will raise your attack power by several hundred points. Stay away from his engines, though; they're utter garbage (they have no fuel!). Oh, and he also sells ammo for the G-Godfather gun you just picked up.

A little to the west of Joe's house, you'll find another doorway that leads to an abandoned shop. Here, you can learn about how Infinity Level works and what fueled the Eldrige's engine (like you care) by examining the various stacks of paper scattered around. Upstairs, you'll also find a DeathBlower1 in a chest.

You've completely looted the place now, so get in your Gears and go to the parking lot in the southeast corner of the area. Walk around in the southwest corner of the parking lot until Fei says something. Now get out of your Gears and look for the nearby hole in the ground -- it's almost impossible to see, but it is there. Go down it and you'll be in a subway terminal. Follow the tracks west until you get to another terminal. Before you leave, go inside the subway car and search around the west side -- there's a Z Charger hidden in a chest there. Then exit west and go up the stairs. Walk to the end of the platform and you'll see some gratuitous flashbacks, and then Emeralda will transform from a child to an adult.

That's all you can do here, so make your way back to the elevator and hit the road. Keeping Emmy in your party, fly back to the Snowfield Hideout and take the southeast exit from the main hub. Go through the prison and all the hallways, and you'll eventually find a woman at the end of the stairs. Talk to her and, if you have the Mermaid Tear from Lahan (yes, the one you've carried the whole game), she'll exchange it for a Mermaid Ring, an accessory that can boosts Emeralda's ether power and ether defense by 10 each. Yippee.
