ITEMS TO GET: Shevat Map, Queen's Rod, Battle Apron,
Ruby Helmet, Aquasol DX, Rosesol DX,
Whip-Lasher, Economether
If you need items, you can buy them from the orange
Chu-chu in the main hall. You don't really need much
in the way of items, though (since Fei has a healing
spell), so try to save your money for Gear upgrades.
Go back to the dock (where you first arrived at
Shevat). The elevator will stop partway down, and you
will be forced to use the emergency entrance to get to
the Gear dock.
This dungeon is second only to the Kislev sewers
in general annoyingness. First of all, you're stuck
with Maria in your party, who is by far the most useless
character in the game (on foot, at least). She has
no Deathblows, and only does 1 damage with each hit,
plus her defense is rather minimal. Just let her get
killed off and don't worry about healing her, or you'll
waste all your EP.
You'll run into three types of enemies in here:
Gimmicks, Forbiddens, and Tears. The Gimmicks are the
easiest; every attack does just 1 HP damage to them, but
since they only have 6 HP, you can kill them with a
string of six Triangle attacks (wow, something Maria
can actually hurt). Try to kill them quickly, though,
or they'll suck away all your EP. The Forbiddens are
a bit tougher; they're locked in sarcophagi at the start,
but after a round or so will break loose and use Mighty
Blow on you, which will do an amount of damage equal
to however much damage they've received so far. The
trick to beating them is to concentrate all your attacks
on one and you should be able to kill it before it breaks
out. Then, when the other one breaks out, Mighty Blow
won't do any damage, since it hasn't been hurt you. If
you've got good Deathblows, though, you can actually kill
both of them by having Rico attack one (which should
take it out in one hit), while Fei attacks the other
and Maria uses magic on it. The toughest enemies, though,
are the Tears. They always come in pairs and start off
weak, but once you kill one, the other becomes stronger
and starts doing 200 HP combos on you. Thus, spread out
your attacks between both of them, so that as soon as one
dies, you can quickly kill the other.
Okay, on with the dungeon. Head north and take the
west route at the fork for the Shevat Map. Then take the
east route, hop over the rubble, and go through the
doorway (if one of your characters gets "stuck" behind
the door, just hit a button to free them). Descend the
stairs and go through the door at the bottom. Take the
east fork and ride the platform down. Outside, grab the
Queen's Rod from the chest, then go back up, and take the
left fork. Ride the platform down.
Outside, go west (right on the screen), and climb
down the ladder. Activate the green crystal switch to
reverse the windmill, so that you can hop onto one of
the blades. Ride it across and jump off onto the ledge
on the other side (if you fall off, just climb up the
ladder and try again). Go down the ladder and activate
the platform.
You're now in the big maze section of the shaft, but
fortunately you have a map (hit Select to look at it).
Start off by going due south until you reach a chest with
the Battle Apron (o-kaaayy...). Then go back north and
head down the first passage you come to on the west until
you see a door. Go through and descend the stairs. At
the bottom, get the Ruby Helmet, Aquasol DX, and Rosesol
DX from the three chests (the Ruby Helmet can only be used
by female characters; save it for Elly 'cuz Maria sucks).
Then go back up the stairs and continue west. Turn north
at the corner. Skip the door to the west, it leads to more
stairs, but at the bottom all you find is a broken door (and
Big Joe ^_^). Instead, keep going north, then east.
Continue along until you find a door to the south. Go
through it and descend the stairs.
At the bottom of the stairs, exit through the door and
you'll be in the "gray" area of the map. Go west and turn
south at the first fork for the Whip-Lasher whip. Continue
west to the next fork and take a south turn. At the bottom
of the stairs, you'll find a chest with the Economether,
which halves EP usage. Give it to Maria, she's actually
semi-useful with it. Then go back up and continue north
to a platform. Ride it down and you'll be outside again.
There's a save point here; use a SurvivalTent to recover
your HP and EP. Then go left, over the platform (don't ride
it, just walk on top of it), and hop down the broken ramp
to the left (again, if you fall, climb up the ladder and
try again). At the end of the ramp, go left some more and
climb down the ladder. There's another windmill here; I
recommend rotating the camera so that West is at the top.
This makes it a lot easier to jump onto the first windmill
and from there to the next windmill. Then jump onto the
ledge and ride the platform down yet again.
Back inside, follow the straightforward path until
you reach an intersection. There's another save point to
the west, but since there's no boss, you needn't use it.
Just go south and climb down the manhole. This room should
appear familiar; it's the first room of Shevat that you
reached. Go west through the blue hallway to Siebzehn's
hangar. After that, it's all automatic.
