ITEMS TO GET: SurvivalTent (x2), Metal Vest, WeddingDress,
Gold Nuggest, Rosesol S, Aquasol S, CobraCracka
When you're ready to finally get on with the game, go
talk to your friends at the hotel and choose to "Get some
rest". The following day, you'll be controlling Fei and
Citan. Go up to Fatima Castle and talk to one of the guards
to be admitted. Enter the tent in the northeast corner,
where you'll meet the mysterious Wiseman (in blue) and...
Dan. When you talk to Dan, he and Fei will argue for a
while, then the game will switch over to Bart. Just leave
the hotel and go down to the pump near the Gear shop (not
the one on the east side of town). Use the key to open it
and enter.
You now switch back and forth between Fei and Bart; you
mostly play as Bart, but the game occasionally switches over
to another tournament battle with Fei. Since this is kinda
random, I'll list all of the tournament battles first, and
then cover Bart's mission.
- Round 1: Gonzales. Remember, you're trying to stall for as
long as possible, so don't take him out right away. Use
a Triangle attack, then hit Circle to cancel and add the
rest of the AP to your Combo meter. Build all the way up to
28 AP (healing when necessary... Fei's faster than he is,
so you can heal on a round before he gets to attack), and
cast Iron Valor. Then just defend until you're almost dead,
at which point go to the Combo option and use all 28 of your
AP to defeat him (you can prolong this even longer by using
Inner Healing if you want). A menu will pop up; use Hob-Jerky
to heal Fei, and also use a Rosesol if you expended more than
10 EP. (You'll also get a SurvivalTent when you win)
- Round 2: Big Joe! Big Joe is a pathetic fighter; all he does
is attack and take off 1 HP (or 2 if he does his "combo").
Occasionally his fans will heal him or throw stuff at you
(doing about 60 damage), but they will only do this if you use
any Deathblows on Big Joe. Build up your AP again, then just defend
until you're down to about 10 HP or so (remember, you're trying to
stall as long as possible), then wipe him out with your combo.
You'll receive a Metal Vest; be sure to equip it on Fei right away
(and also heal).
- Round 3: Scud (the Disposable Assassin?). If you've got the
Metal Vest on, Scud should barely be able to hurt you. Again,
build up your AP and cast Iron Valor, then stall as long as
possible. Scud can poison you; if this happens, use a Physisol
to cure it. This is the last fight you can stall on, so try to
waste as much time as possible.
- Round 4: Dan. Don't attack him! Just sit back and defend,
healing when necessary. He'll mostly use weak physical attacks
on you, but occasionally he'll use Guided Shot (except it looks
like the Gear version of Guided Shot... how does he do that?)
and take off about 100 HP, so stay healed. If you don't attack
him, he'll eventually give you the WeddingDress (good armor,
it raises your Ether defense, and, despite what you may expect,
can be equipped by male characters too) and run off. If you
attack him at all, you get jack squat.
- Round 5: Wiseman. This isn't really a battle; you can't hurt
Wiseman, but all he does is jump up and down and say "What a
wimp!" Just sit around for a while 'til he runs away, and you
"win" the tournament.
With Bart, swim north and then northeast (note that sometimes
the current will pick up and you won't be able to move forward.
Just swim in place until it stops, then continue). Ignore the passage
to the southeast and keep going until you reach a pole. Climb up
it and you'll be in the fish tank in the restaurant. Grab the
chest for a Gold Nugget, then climb back down into the waterways.
Continue northeast, and take an east turn at the next intersection.
Get the Rosesol S in the bag at the end, then go back to the last
intersection and go north. At the next intersection, you can either
go east, north, southeast, and then south to get a SurvivalTent
(and then retrace your steps), or just skip it and go northwest.
Continue on to the next intersection, and go south for an Aquasol S.
Head back up north and follow the passage until you reach a four-way
junction. Go north and wait until the watergate opens, then swim
north.
You're now in the basement of Fatima Castle, where you'll
be greeted by one of Bart's former followers. After you talk to
him, cross the short bridge and flip the switch on the back wall
to close the watergate. Actually, I have no idea what this
does, but you might as well do it. Save your game at the
provided Memory Cube and climb up the ladder.
This area and all the ones past it will have guards
partrolling them; the longer Fei stalls in the battles, the
fewer guards there will be (if you stalled long enough, there
won't be any guards). If the guards see you, they'll chase
after you at speeds you cannot outrun. Fortunately, they're
easy to beat.
From the courtyard, go south. The door here is probably
guarded; if it is, just run by the guards and duck into the
nearest door. Then just leave again and head east (there
may be guards patrolling the hallways). Enter the southeast-most
room and open the chest for the CobraCracka whip. It's not as
strong as the WhippaSnappa, so you won't want to use it normally,
but it'll come in very handy in an upcoming battle. If there
was a guard outside, use the "Take a peek" command when you
go to leave the room to see if he's around. If he is, wait
until he leaves before you go out.
Go back to the door you came in through. There's another
door just to its south; go through there to a new screen.
Climb up the staircase (the guards up on top are nearly impossible
to avoid; don't worry about trying to elude them). There's
a bunch of side rooms here, but all of them are empty. Just
exit north through the double doors and you'll be back in the
courtyard, but now up on the balcony. You can go either west
or east from here; it doesn't matter which route you take, as
they both end up at doors leading back inside.
Indoors, climb up two flights of stairs (be sure you're
taking the *up* stairs, not the down ones ^_^). There's more
stairs, but ignore them and head to the northeast corner
of the room. Fight the guard blocking the door and then go
through. Head north and off the guard there, then go through
the door to your right into Margie's room. Margie will grab
Chu-Chu (the horror has only begun...) and then tag along with
you.
