Prerequisites: AF Firefly Lamp
Use the Firefly Lamp to create the town of Lumina.
Lumina is divided into two "branches"; the left one contains the
tavern, the weapon shop, and (in the hard-to-find alley by the
weapon shop) the item shop. The right one holds Bright Moon Alley,
the gem shop, and what should be your next destination: Monique's lamp shop.
Upon talking to Monique, you're interrupted by
Gilbert the centaur and given the quest "Faeries' Light." You and
Gilbert step outside; Gilbert agrees to sell three lamps, while you
also sell three. You could just pay for them all yourself,
but the real intent of the quest is to sell them to the Dudbears.
To do so, head to the Mischievous Spirits Tavern
on the west side of town and talk to the manager. He'll teach you the
Dudbear language. You now have to chat with the three Dudbears in
town -- two in the tavern, and one in Bright Moon Alley -- and convince
them to buy your lamps. Doing so involves replying to their statements
with either "Dub!" (yes) or "Dud!" (no), and then eventually inquiring
"Dada Dadda?"
Dudbear #1
- "Duda Gak Duba." "Dud!"
- "Duba Gak Bubu!" "Dud!"
- "Bubu?" "Dud!"
- "Dudda?" "Dub!"
- "Dub!!" "Dada Dadda?"
Dudbear #2
- "Duda Bubu, Duba Bubu?" "Dud!"
- "Duda Dub Ba! Duba Dub Ba?" "Dub!"
- "Duba Dubababa Ba Da! Dub?" "Dub!"
- "Duba Duda Dubba, Dub!" "Dub!"
- "Dub!!" "Dada Dadda?"
Dudbear #3
- "Ba Baba! Da Baba!" "Dub!"
- "Duba Dub Ba?" "Dub!"
- "Duba Dubba!" "Dub!"
- "Duba Duda Dubba, Dub!" "Dub!"
- "Dub!!" "Dada Dadda?"
Once you've closed all three sales, return to Gilbert and
talk to him. Then go inside the shop, where Gilbert will present his
stunning sales success to Monique. After the pair leaves, go outside
and talk to Gil again. Return to the store and speak with Monique a
final time; she will reward you. You'll most likely receive a pair of
Artifacts for clearing the quest, but, depending on how many you've already
collected, you may end up with pieces of metal instead.
Note: This quest is the first in the "Gilbert" story
line. In order to see the full story and complete all the quests, you'll
want to next complete the quests A Siren's Song and
Gilbert: Love Is Blind, both based out of Polpota. Until then, do not
set foot inside the town of Geo; doing so will trigger the Gilbert: School
Amour mission. Once School Amour has started, you won't be able to do
Love Is Blind, though you can still finish A Siren's Song.
Li'l Cactus' quote: "Dub!"
Cactus Diary:
"Learned Dudbear words to sell lamps to Dudbears! Just what is master up to? But it's neat that master comes by to tell me funny stories like that."
