ITEMS TO GET: Healing Flower, Weed Hammer, Magic Leaf,
Guardian Water, Healing Bloom, Healing Leaf, Survival Club,
Azure Jewel, Medicine
When you return to Biron Monastery, you'll
find the place infested with the Mist, thanks to Songi. Gala
immediately runs off to locate his rival, and Vahn and Noa
are left to fend for themselves against the Gimards and
Theeders. Gala will immediately Use this chance to have Noa
assimilate them both with the aid of the Ivory Book (and if Vahn didn't
catch them earlier, have him catch them too). Note that
although the Gimards and Theeders are called Gimard Lv. 2
and Theeder Lv. 2, they're still at Level 1 when you
assimilate that.
Head back to the room where the shops were
before, in which the survivors have gathered. You can get healed
here (talk to the woman at the table), and buy stuff if you
need it. Talk to Zepu, then drop in on the room just to the
right, which you couldn't enter before. A Seru-possessed Maya
is here; just read her letter on the ground and leave. Go back
to the stairs room and exit to the northeast. Gala will show
up on your way out and rejoin you.
On the world map, head north until you reach
East Voz Forest. Inside, you'll face more Nightos, plus Mushrins,
Twin Tombs, and Gizams. The lattermost is a water Seru and can
be absorbed; try to nab one for both Vahn and Noa.
Head north along the path until you reach a
log off to the side. Crawl through it, then go north when you
come out. Take the second turn left to get a Healing Flower
(more powerful than a Leaf; it restores 800 HP). Continue
down the main path and take the first right turn. Proceed
along the long path until you reach a chest with the Weed Hammer.
Use it to knock down the bushes in front of you and procure
the Magic Leaf from the other chest.
Now that you've got the Weed Hammer, return
to the main area and head south. Take the second (from where
you entered) passage leading left and break through the bushes
at the end of it. Collect the Guardian Water, then go back to
the main path and head north.
On the next screen, break the bushes to your
right and get the Healing Bloom, then go north, break through
the bushes, and enter screen 3. Here, crawl left through the
first log you come to. Smash down all the bushes (fun fun!)
and grab the Survival Club and Healing Leaf. Equip the Survival
Club on Gala right away to give him a much-needed attack boost,
then crawl back through the log. Head north and pick up the
Azure Jewel from the chest. Equip it (preferably on Noa, since
she has the weakeste defense), then pass through the log to
the east. Smash down the bushes and continue to the next
screen to the north. From here, it's just a straight walk to
the Memory Statue.
Heal up, and equip both the Ivory Book and
Ra-Seru Egg on Vahn. Just a bit to the north is the Genesis
Tree, and when you touch it, Songi will hop down. After
throwing some Kefka-esque taunts at you, he sics two
Viguros on you.
This is another tough boss battle (then again,
so are almost all of the others). Both Viguros can do
about 150-250 damage per attack. Occasionally, they'll use
Thunder Break, which actually does less damage than a regular
attack (especially if you have the Ra-Seru Egg equipped). Vahn
and Noa should charge up with Spirit, then focus their attacks
on one of the Viguros. Recommended combos include right, right,
left, down, right, up for Vahn and left, left, right, right, left,
right for Noa. Gala is kinda useless; just have him use Spirit
and attack. Healing should be attended to by Noa, since she's
the fastest. Her MP is limited, however, so for non-emergency
heals, go with Vahn instead. The early part of the battle is
difficult, but once you take out of the Viguros (each has around
1200 HP), things get a lot easier. Being Seru, the Viguros can
be assimilated. It's a nice bonus if you can catch one (the
Viguro attack, Plasma Storm, does about 800 HP to all enemies,
though it costs a hefty 64 MP to cast), but don't make a big
deal out of it.
After the battle, touch the tree again to
revive it. Your Ra-Seru Egg will hatch into Ozma, Gala's Ra-Seru.
You'll then automatically warp back to the monastery.
