ITEMS TO GET: Wisdom Water, Swift Water, Wonder Elixir,
Phoenix, Miracle Water, Life Water, Guardian Water, Magic
Water, Speed Elixir, Mary's Diary, Wonder Amulet, Golden
Book, Astral Sword
With Gaza out of the way for now, you're
free to roam around the upper levels of Sol. You now need to
collect seven pieces of Soru Bread (which should really just
be Sol Bread...), which can either be bought from the bakery
at 6000 G apiece or purchased for 100 coins at the Muscle
Dome prize counter. First, buy as many loaves from the bakery
as you can (be sure to sell off any equipment you're not using), then
head to the Muscle Dome to get the rest. The easiest way (by far) to
earn coins is to play Baka Fighter; see its
entry in the mini-games section for more information.
Once you've finally collected seven loaves
of Soru Bread, descend back into the Mist-covered areas of
the tower. Continue down the stairs until you come to the
first door. Go inside and open the chest for Magic Water.
Then examine it again to put a Soru Bread in it. The chest
will close and start blinking -- one down, six to go. Leave
that room and continue left. Pop in the next door, open the
chest there, and then put another Soru Bread in to close it.
Leave the room and continue past the next door (it's just the
elevator) to the door after that. Enter, open the Sage's
Chest for Swift Water, then descend the stairs in that
room. There's two chests here; one a Sage's Chest and the
other a normal one. Open both, then put Soru Bread in the
Sage's Chest.
Leave the building. On the stairs, continue
your descent until you reach the next door. Go in there and do
the usual bread routine with the Sage's Chest. Leave and
head left past the next two doors. Enter the third door and
feed the Sage's Chest there. Climb up the stairs in the back
to the second floor, where the final Sage's Chest awaits.
Feed it, then make your way back to the town part of Sol.
Heal up, then return to the dungeon area.
Just keep walking down the stairs, and
ignore all the doors. Eventually, you'll reach a statue
blocking your path -- it's the Sages' Guard Dog. Once
you reach it, turn around and head back right. Go in the
first door you come to and examine the organ-like device.
If you've "fed" all seven Sages, the Guard Dog will
move. If not, you'll be told how many there are left --
go find them!
Continue down the stairs, past the Guard
Dog, and you'll eventually switch to a top-down view as
you near Warrior's Square. This signals a shift in the
enemies to newer models; you'll also see Kemaros appearing
as normal enemies. Don't miss the chance to assimilate
them; you want as many characters as possible wielding their
insane power.
Grab the Speed Elixir in the chest at the
start, then head south and east. You'll reach a small libray
of sorts. Search all the sides of the shelves; eventually you'll
find Mary's Diary, which you can give to the monk back up on the
roof for some new Arts. Then continue through the sequence of
rooms to a small room filled with trash. There's a chest hidden
on the left side; it contains the Wonder Amulet, which renders
you immune to any status changes.
The next room also has a chest; this one contains
the Golden Book, which increases the amount of money you receive
after battle. Equip it right away; you can always use the increased
income. Then continue north to a wider room with some stairs. Save
your game, then descend into Warrior's Square.
Warrior's Square is home to one of Legaia's few
puzzles: You have to reach the center of the square by manipulating
colored switches to disarm electrical barriers. First, flip the
lever directly in front of you. This will partially open the gate
in the center of the square. Now throw the pink switch just to
the southeast, and cross through the now-disarmed pink barrier.
The barrier will turn back on as soon as you do so. Descend the
stairs to the left and hit the blue switch. Go south through where
the blue barrier was, and descend the stairs to the lowest level.
Use the stairs to the left to ascend on level, and flip the dark
blue switch to the north. Head south and flip both switches (red
and yellow). Descend into the bottom of the square again, then
climb up the ramps to your left to reach the top tier. Go north
through the empty red barrier and hit the red and white switches.
Head south; at the south end of the upper ring is another lever.
Throw it to open the gate in the center of the square. Head
east some more and hit the green switch. Pass through the green
barrier and descend the ramp to your left again. Once again,
flip the blue switch to the north, then cross through the blue
gate. Descend the ramp into the middle of the square.
Songi makes his usual grand entrance, and, after
the obligatory exchange of insults, sics Gaza on you. Despite
Songi's claims that Gaza is now a "Super Geezer", he's actually
easier than the last time you fought him. Just use the same
strategy that you used during the previous battle, and make use
of your Kemaros! When he's low on HP, he'll start using Neo Star
Slash, which does about 900 damage to the party -- summon Spoon to
recover from it. Gaza has 15,000 HP.
When Gaza is defeated, the Genesis Tree is
revived, and you will receive Gaza's Astral Sword. Equip it on
Vahn; it's a very powerful weapon. You'll need it in the next
leg of the journey, which we'll cover in the fourth and final
installment of the guide. In the mean time, you can always
amuse yourself trying to beat Baka Fighter...
