Dance ContestMore information

To even participate in the Dance Contest, you'll need the Gold Card, which can be purchased for 50 coins at the prize counter in Sol's Muscle Dome. You can wind 50 coins in one game of Baka Fighter, so that's hardly a problem. Once you've got the Gold Card, pay a visit to the Sol Fever Disco, just upstairs from the Muscle Dome.

To get started, talk to the Disco King; he'll offer to teach Noa how to dance. If you've ever played Bust-a-Groove or PaRappa the Rapper, you'll instantly recognize what to do here -- tap a button whenever the arrow reaches its corresponding icon. Since there's only two different buttons (Square and Circle), and the patterns never are more than 3 buttons long, this isn't too hard to manage. The only quirk is the Triangle button -- three times per song, you can combine Triangle with the last button to perform a high-scoring move. Practice this; it's the key.

When you're ready to actually begin the contest, talk to the guy just to the right of the stage and pay your 500 G entrance fee. During the contest, use your first two Triangle moves on your first two moves -- if you use them on a Level 3 move, it'll last so long that you miss the next move. Then keep dancing normally until the announcer says "Finish". Then, on the next move, use your last Triangle. This earns you the maximum amount of points possible, and should earn you an easy victory. As long you're in the top two places, you'll advance to the second round, against Queen Mary.

Handle this round the same way you did the first. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly, or you won't win. Mary always gets a high score, and the only way you can top it is to not miss a single move and use your three Triangles at the right time (see above). Assuming you do that, you'll win, and become the new Dance Queen. This nets Noa the Swimsuit (apparently useless) and 10,000 G (not useless).

Once Noa has been crowned Dance Queen, talk to the Disco King again and he'll give you a Speed Chain. If you talk to the guy who enters you in the contest, you can dance by yourself to try to get as high a score as possible -- this is just for fun; you don't win anything. (Also note that the monitors in the background are now showing Noa's picture instead of Mary's)
