ITEMS TO GET: 2700 gil, Phoenix Pinion

   You emerge on the New Continent, in the upper-right corner of the real world map. (The Mist Continent was actually just a fourth of the map.) You'll find Zagnails and Goblin Mages here; the former possess the Matra Magic enemy skill, and the latter Goblin Punch. The White Wind-carrying Griffins from Fossil Roo also show up; Eat one if you didn't back in Fossil Roo.

   Head northeast, passing under the bridge, until you reach the coastline. Turn south. There's another Qu's Marsh here (complete with Moogles), with a bigger frog pond that makes for quicker catching. Stop by it if you want; it's not a required destination. From the marsh, loop west and travel north on the plateau. Eventually you'll reach the building on the bridge that you saw earlier. This is Conde Petie, the home of the (not so sexy) dwarves.

Is the SEXY DWARVE a Lali ho?

   As usual, everyone runs off, leaving Zidane alone. Search around in the corner for 2700 gil, then head right one screen to trigger an A.T.E. menu; you can watch either VIVI or Quina. Then go two screens to the left. If you head left another screen, you can get to the inn -- as usual, it costs 100 gil. Go north from the hall outside the inn and climb up the steps. There's a Garnet A.T.E. here. Find VIVI at the bottom of the room and talk to him. This triggers an A.T.E. introducing Eiko. When it concludes, go down the steps and a Black Mage runs by. Zidane and Garnet chase it back to the entrance, but it escapes.

   The dwarf chief suggests investigating the forest to the southwest. Before you leave, go back to the room where the Black Mage appeared; there's an item shop and Save Moogle here, as well as a Phoenix Pinion hidden on the landing of the stairs. Talk to the Moogle and MOGNET for a new quest. Even further to the east is the weapon shop; pick up an Oak Staff for VIVI (attached spells are Stop, Bio, Drain), a Mithril Fork for Quina, and new headgear for everyone. Zidane can learn the very useful Counter ability from the hat, while Garnet gets Confuse from the Lamia Tiara.
