ITEMS TO GET: Bronze Gauntlet, Bronze ?, Three-Corner Hat, Gizamaluke Bell (x3), Full Bell
Before proceeding, make sure you're well stocked with items. Then walk or ride to Gizamaluke's Grotto, the dot due north of Qu's Marsh -- the Grotto appears as a door in the mountains on the world map. Enter; Freija will come across two of her dead comrades. The party automatically proceeds inside the cave. Check the room on the right and talk to the dying Burmecian soldier. He'll give you a Gizamaluke Bell. Examine the big door back to the left and choose the first option to ring the bell. The door opens and the door shatters.
Proceed into the next room. Thorn and Zorn show up and sic two Type A Black Mages upon you. Defeat them, then continue under the arch. Run into the Black Mage wandering around to fight him; he magically turns into two Type A enemies during the battle. Defeat them both and you'll receive a second Gizamaluke Bell. Use said bell to open the leftmost door and walk around the passage on the outside of the room. Collect the Bronze ? (it's armor) from the chest along the way, then talk to the Burmecian soldier. He'll give you another Bell. Use the bell to open the rightmost door and proceed through.
Walk along the far side of the steps. There's a hard-to-find exclamation spot aligned with the third bell from the left; find and activate it for a Bronze Gauntlet. Continue along the steps; underneath the overpass is a second exclamation point. This one yields a Three-Corner Hat. It's worth equipping on any of the characters, but give it to VIVI since he can learn a new spell (Slow) from it. (Note that you can also pick up a new spell for Quina, Level 3 Depress, from the Lamias in here... you'll have to lower them to critical HP before he can Eat them, however.) Continue along the stairs to the blue chamber in the middle. A Moogle is here, trying to free its trapped comrade; choose the first option to give it the item that VIVI received back in Lindbulm. The second Moogle will break out of the bell.
After the Moogles leave, search the center of the chamber for another Gizamaluke Bell. Use it to open the door on the right. Inside, you'll find the two Moogles; you can MOGNET and Save here. Use a Tent or two to heal up your characters. Turn to leave; on the way out, the Moogles will give you another bell. Use it to open the door on the left and head through. Gizamaluke bursts out of the pool, and it's boss time.
Gizamaluke is weak against lightning, so have VIVI use Thunder. Quina should attack, but if he's low on HP, have him use Pumpkin Head instead -- it does damage equal to the amount of HP that Quina is short of his maximum. Zidane should just attack; you can steal a Fire Cane from Gizamaluke, but it's not really necessary, as you'll be able to buy them soon. (If Zidane gets into Trance Mode, attack Gizamaluke with Frenzy.) Freija, of course, should just Jump continuously. Gizamaluke frequently casts Silence on you; use Echo Screens (the blue bottle with the five-character name) to cure VIVI and Quina -- there's obviously no need to cure Zidane or Freija if they get hit. When Gizamaluke goes down (it has about 3000 HP), youll receive 5 AP and 800 G, and then the action switches over to Steiner at the Bohden Gate.
