I just finished Xenogears and to give my mind a short sabbatical from learning 3D I got out the sketch pad and did a picture of Fei. I wanted to give Fei an authentic martial arts pose instead of a video-fu exagerated pose (nothing wrong with that, though, fighting games would be pretty dull if they were completely realistic), so I leafed through some martial arts magazines at the newsstand and bought one because one had an excellent picture of Bruce Lee in a ready stance (which I had in mind more of than an action shot) and based the linework from that (with the nessecary "Fei-izing", of course). I exagerated the hands slightly to push them "forward" and to give the picture a bit more depth. Fei himself was painted in Fractal Design Painter and the background was from a stock photography disc with Gaussian Blur applied since the picture was a bit pixelly when it scaled up. Not a techincally advanced picture, but its art, and that alone makes it worthwhile.
