Artist's Commentary

Okay, my inspiration for the Mana Tree for this came from an odd source. While sweeping sawdust in my garage (so very boring), I started to doodle in the piles of sawdust. I started to make this really neat looking tree; that's where I got my sawdust idea. I colored the paper and the sawdust, then promptly messed up. There was no milk in the house. I was planning on using milk as my adhesive, as it would spread out the sawdust. I resorted to glue, and messed up the trunk (it was saved by a liberal dose of raw sawdust). Thankfully, the leaves went on fine... but the end result came out mediocre. Scanning the picture, though, added depth to it. So, I guess I learned my lesson; collect enough sawdust for two trees.
