University of Miami(I guess I should be serious for a moment since this is my career we're talking about ^_~)Welcome to the University of Miami Founded in 1925, the University of Miami is the youngest of 23 private research universities in the country that operate both law and medical schools. Its six campuses and facilities include the Coral Gables campus, the medical campus (in downtown Miami), the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science campus (on Virginia Key), the James L. Knight International Center, and the John J. Koubek Center. Edward T. Foote II is the University's fourth president. [excerpted from the University of Miami website, where you can find a complete history and listing of all University related activities] Although I study in the School of Music, I work for the University's Richter Library, in the computer department, assisting the patrons and helping with the upkeep of the University's website. It's a nice way to be involved with something non musical on campus. The School of Music was one of the original departments when the University opened in 1925, and was actually considered a conservatory at the time. The Music Education degree is a four year course with a principle on one instrument, although the actual Florida degree certifies me as a teacher for all instrument areas. My principle is piano, and my secondary is Voice, so the rest of my schedule works around this. For more information on the Marching Band and other UM traditions, click on the Band of the Hour link. |
