Handsome Boy Modeling School
So ... How's Your Girl?

This is an album that's grown on me over time; while I still don't like every song, I like a lot more of them than I used to. It's kind of a hip-hop Whitman's Sampler with different artists on every track--the only constant are Prince Paul and Dan the Automator supplying the music. Some of the singers/rappers here are well-known, like The Projects featuring Dove from De La Soul and the omnipresent Del (not all that omnipresent, really, I just keep buying things that feature him) or Metaphysical featuring the Beastie Boys' Mike D and Cibo Matto's Miho Hatori. My favorite tracks, though, are from artists I'd never heard of, such as Roisin Murphy and J-Live on The Truth; the former lends her melancholy voice to the song while the latter gets a chance to drop some impressive legalese rhymes in an interlude. Like a box of candy, you could approach this as an album where you can try things until you like something--but a better way is to keep trying it until you like everything.
