Enix sets high hopes for Dragon Quest VII
[08.18.99] » The company's president talks about sales
figures and PlayStation 2 development.
Revered Japanese publisher Enix went public on the
Nikkei (the Tokyo Stock Exchange) today, and its president, Yasuhiro Fukushima,
talked about the company's future during a press conference held to celebrate
the occassion.
Enix is aiming to sell two to three million copies of Dragon Quest
VII in Japan -- not too distant a goal, given that DQ VI racked up sales of 3.2 million.
And while DQ VII's release remains elusive, Fukushima did state that the
game would arrive in Japan sometime within in this financial year, a
period ending next spring.
Fukushima also stated that Enix is committed to
development for Sony's next system. Six PlayStation 2 titles are in the
works at Enix; the first is scheduled to arrive in April 2000. Enix is
developing an online PC title as well.
