Final Fantasy VI for PSX commercial

[01.13.99] » A commercial touting Square's Final Fantasy VI remake for PSX is making the rounds on Japanese airwaves.

For those not aware, Square is re-releasing Final Fantasy VI, originally a Super Famicom (SNES) game, for the Sony PlayStation shortly in Japan. The remake includes beautifully rendered CG scenes injected throughout the game, while graphics and gameplay otherwise remains identical. (Loading times have also been added, sadly.)

Thanks to Gaming-Age, we've got a partial movie of the advertisement appearing on Japanese televisions. The movie begins with a close-up of what appears to be Terra wearing a slave-crown, followed by a clip of her mounted atop the Empire's MagiTek armor. The opera scene cuts in afterwards, with Celes tossing a bouquet of flowers into the night sky. Several generic gameplay clips then follow, while the classic opera theme is sung in the background throughout the commercial.

Kefka fails to make an appearance in the ad. Bummer. Photos of the madman and other scenes are available here.
