Welcome my sons and daughters. Life is a journey, a journey for truth and enlightenment. I intend to bring you just that each and every weekend. Please, don't thank me, I only wish to make the world a better place. I'll put it on your tab. What, you thought enlightenment and a higher level of existence was free? This stuff doesn't grow on trees, you know. Okay, enough of that demented mumbo jumbo. I'm Drew Cosner, letter answering dude extraordinaire, and I'll be your weekend warrior answering all of those burning questions and soiling my hands in the sweet stench of debate. Onward ho! The pure power of suck, right in the palm of your hand | Hey Drew! I'm sitting here atwork playing Final Fantasy Legends III and I'm wondering... Are they goingto release any of the FFLegends series for color GameBoy? I mean, right nowmy wonderful CGB is wasting it's potential on black and white cartridges.Ungh! Oh and while I'm at it, Last Bible II, is that coming out in color,if so when? |
Last Bible 2 is indeed coming to the Gameboy Color... at least in Japan. According to Atlus, Last Bible 2 is to be released on April 16th in Japan. Since Last Bible 1 is being released in the coming months in North America as Revelations: Demon Slayer, I'd say the odds of Last Bible 2 making it to our shores as well are pretty good. As for playing Final Fantasy Legend 3... are you some kind of masochist? That game's dangerously high level of raw suckage gave me a near-fatal case of suck poisoning. Releasing in the first place was just more proof that Square is in fact in cahoots with Adolph Hitler. There's only one major problem: it has tons of problems | Now that the PSX versions of Final Fantasy V and VI are coming our way, there is one major concern with both of them. I imported the Collection, and they have have A LOT problems. I hate to say this, but if Square doesn't fix these in time for the US release, they're gonna get bashed by magazines and websites and gamers. So I was hoping if you would be able to tell me if Square plans, or is planning to fix these problems for their US release. Believe me, these bugs aren't simply little bugs that are easily ignored. These bugs seriously detract from the gameplay. So do you have any idea what Square plans to do about this? Mind Slayer |
Apparently, the games in the Final Fantasy Collection have some rather irritating bugs plaguing them. The Mode 7 parallax scrolling is a mess on the Playstation, and the music samples are horrendous, amongst other things. It's easy to get angry with Square sometimes, and this is certainly one of those times. Here's the perfect chance for them to make some good money by re-releasing already completed, and with the exception of FFV, translated games and cash in on the popularity of the Final Fantasy name in North America, and what do they do? Make shoddy recreations of 16 bit games on a system that outclasses the original machine they were intended for in every possible category. But in all fairness, these are the pitfalls of emulating one system on another. Although yes, the Playstation is technically more powerful than the Super Nintendo, they both handle various routines in entirely different manners and recreating the nuances of one system on another is virtually impossible. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Square | Why hello Newbie! I hope you've had weeks of preparation, and hours of listening to Allan's horror stories, 'cause you're gonna need it! With that said, I'd like to take the time to try and figure out what the hell the FFMQ guy was saying. Video game fishing?! I'm sorry, but I don't think that's the effect most RPGs go for. The game was just a dirty ploy to try and "ease American consumers into RPGs," a plot that I find sickening and insulting. And on top of that, the called the damn game Final Fantasy America in Japan! Now that's going to far. I won't even get into the actual gameplay, because we all know that it was just worthless to the point of nonexistence. Its just the whole point of the game that made me mad. That's not the way to get Americans to like RPGs (and neither is deluging them with flashy graphics, but I'll save that for another time...). Appreciate it for what it is?! I think I'd rather bash it for what it isn't, and what it was supposed to be. PS. Whoever wrote this better listen to me when I say that I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY "U" INSTEAD OF "YOU"!! All right...that's enough of that... And another thing, I don't know of many people that find joy in beating up on little kids in tic-tac-toe.... 'Till next time,Justin "Kefka" Freeman |
Sit down, I have to talk to you. This isn't going to be easy to tell you, but your mother and I have decided that you're old enough and you're at that age that you need to hear this. The Japanese feel Americans are stupid. No, really. They truly, honestly, in the bottom of their hearts believe that Americans are a bunch of backhills trolls who like to pop in games with "lots of big 'splosions and blud!" into our consoles between making jugs moonshine and skipping school. It's not just Square. The logic in FFMQ does, in it's own, sad, twisted, "aw look, the puppy can roll over!" way make sense. If you're trying to teach a little kid to ride a bike, what do you do? You get him a nice, little bike with some training wheels screwed to the rear tire to start with first. So, Square decided that making an easy, simplistic RPG at a dirt cheap price would help ease us into those super-complex "regular" RPG's. Well, the game didn't sell particularly well and to be blunt made Square lose face. We sure showed them! Read at your own discretion | Drew, Ugh.. people are blaming Doom (among other things) for the shootings atColorado. You know, it puzzles me why the media is analyzing every aspect ofthe media and how THAT'S to blame while ignoring the more important issues(parents, life at home, child abuse, etc.). It seems the media is blaming, ironically, the media. They're too caught up in their little "BasketballDiaries and Doom did it!" blame game to realize that, perhaps, the actualkillers are the one to blame for the deaths? The only person to blamefor one's actions is themselves. You can't say that the invention of the TVcaused you not to do your homework. I understand that the victims aredesperately searching for answers, but why is the media making such fastassumptions of a shooting that happened only a couple of days ago? Okay, so they dress in black, sure, they liked Marilyn Manson music, sure, they played Doom. But I know people who dress in black (otherwise known as a"Goth", please excuse me if I spell it wrong), and I don't see them shootingpeople. I know people who like Marilyn Manson's music, I don't see themrunning into their school or workplace and blasting everyone in sight. I'veplayed Doom, Quake, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, whatever, have I gone crazyand killed everyone around me like the soldier in Doom? Of course not. Thenews stories (especially the one shown on World News Tonight with PeterJennings April 23) are presenting an extremely biased picture againstvideogames, against whatever they decide to blame. It's all a mindless blamegame that is not only entirely pointless, but doesn't really give the peopleof Littleton, Colorado their true justice, what the truth really is, thequestions of why?, etc. "Experts" continuously blame movies, popular music, videogames, TV, when they don't consider that all these forms of media (withthe exception of music) weren't formed during the Civil War, or any of theancient wars and acts of violence that were committed before the 20thcentury? This is in no way saying that these acts of horror weren't at leastslightly influenced by the media. I am not ruling out that if theyweren't exposed to so much of the violent media, that perhaps their act onTuesday may have been prevented or at least less violent (although onemurder is more than none). Immediately throwing out the idea that perhaps, perhaps, they may have been influenced just a little by repeated watching ofviolence is just as crazy and ignorant as immediately blaming videogames. Isthere a cut and dry answer to this? -Clyde Hudman |
This argument is as old as argument itself. Does the person surround himself with things that are outlets for his violent nature, or do the things a person surrounds himself with cause violent nature? The shootings are a travesty beyond description. But, let's face it. There have always been people violent of nature, there have always been killers, and there have always been fingers pointing in every direction to blame. I don't think that games cause people to become blood thirsty killers, but to be honest, blasting the crap out of some dude in Quake certainly doesn't lead to a greater love for mankind, either. The honest truth of the matter is that we don't know what or who is to blame because if we did, humanity would have nipped it in the bud hundreds of years ago and there would be nothing but happy, shiny people wandering around with smiles on their faces at all times. Personally, I'd say the people that are the most to blame other than the killers themselves are those in the news media. Suppose little Timmy, the kid who gets picked on at school and likes to torture small animals is watching the television one day after getting an atomic wedgy at school and sees news of another little boy blowing away a bunch of students. Suddenly little Timmy gets a sick little smile... some other kid took care of the people who were bullying him and got to be on national TV to boot! So the next morning he goes into his daddy's gun cabinet, crabs out a rifle and proceeds directly to school, not passing go, not collecting $200. Pikacommunist | *raises an eyebrow and prods the new question guy* The $64,000 question: Is pikachu really cute, or is it just the start of a chain of attacks to convert our government to a communist regime? I always ask this question to the new question guys. Failure to answer this question may get you a nice vacation to the Ministry of Love. roric =:) |
I'm pretty sure "Pika!" is Russian for "Succumb to to the perfect order of communism, you American swine!". Helping keep children off of the streets | A message to rpg\video game fanatics. Contrary to your simpleton propaganda defense on how games have no affect on antisocialism and mental corruption, i say you guys are idiots. how you like them apples! Joe's Mama |
Hey now. Videogames help keep kids off the streets and away from drugs and gangs. And human contact. And those trivial little "relationships"... I don't see how that can be detrimental to society! Saving the world is boring | I think traditional "save the world" RPG's are getting extremely trite andare starting to SUCK! I think they should bring RPG-Maker III over to the U.S. so I could showthem how a real RPG would be done. It would have a plot that has nothing todo with "saving the world." It will have no "battles" or "leveling up" or"spells" or "potions." The main character would be MacGyver (remember thatshow!?) and he would get into situations where he has to make stuff out ofstuff around him, like a bomb. Like FFTactics, each level would be just an"obstacle" and upon the completion of each level, a MacGyver Anime segmentwould run, revealing more of the story. It would sell. It would kill FF8! Eggman |
Hey, that's a great idea! I'm sure people would love solving obscure puzzles using nothing but dental floss and duct tape for 40+ hours all for the incredible thrill of accomplishing absolutely nothing! I can just imagine it now. You're locked in a closet, surrounded by nothing but a few random chemicals and some bubblegum. What do you do? What do you do? Isn't it obvious? You make an ornate time machine from the coat hangers and bubble gum, fueled by a method of cold fusion you create using the chemicals and go back in time to before you trapped yourself in the closet! The ending would be a 25 minute FMV of a turtle walking across some brown carpet. Lunar's availability is great... for me to poop on! | Drew- I heard that lunar sssc is already sold out at most stores before it has even been released. is this true? -link1 |
If you haven't pre-ordered Lunar by now, you almost certainly won't get a copy when the game is released. WD has said that they won't have enough copies to meet initial pre-orders, and the game has already pre-sold more than the Japanese PSX version sold in Japan. Closing Comments Downright nocturnal update today. A few weeks back it had been determined that my wisdom teeth were ripe for the harvest, and they were plucked out on Friday. Today I pretty much did nothing but sleep, and by the time I was finally feeling wide awake and ready to go it was midnight. D'oh. References to Communism, Hitler, and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog all in one column..... not bad for a day's work. - Drew Cosner | | | |
