Well, Allan has returned from his many wildadventures across the globe, and will be taking overthis column again starting tomorrow. This will bemy last column for a while, so enjoy it while itlasts! Shed no tears over my departure! ... well, fine, you can shed a few if you really want. Enough babbling, though. It's time for the realbusiness of this column, which is mainly correctingmistakes I made the last column. Ian Milham of Crave was kind enough to email mesuch a correction. He states: "Crave PUBLISHEDMilo's Asto Lanes and Robotron for the N64, butdid not DEVELOP them. Shadow Madness is the firstin-house developed product (at Craveyard studios)."Thanks Ian! No miracle working yet | If the Playstation 2 can make a Final Fantasy Movie clip (and soquickly, mind you), then why doesn't Square just use its CPU and makethe whole movie? |
A good question. The key here, though, is that itdidn't make a real FF Movie clip. It rendered onecharacter's face, by itself. No other characters,no backgrounds. The PSX2 is by far the most advancedgaming system ever, but it's not quite that far alongyet. Some companies are planning on using the PSX2for rough sketches when making CG based movies, however. Maybe the PSX3. Let's hope it's no joke | Andy- IGNPSX lists Lunar: SSS Complete's release date as April 1, 1999.Keeping in mind that this is a well-known holiday, does anyone otherthan me find this completely not funny? -Brud |
Hey there bud Brud! Now, let's hope IGNPSX is right...I'm ready for this game to come out! I keep hearinghow awesome the Lunar series is... well I'm readyto play it. So I'm going to put my money on itactually coming out then, and we can all party downwith Lunar goodness! Secrets of Evermore players | My question is very simple and direct. What is the difference between the American and Japanese versions of Chrono Trigger? I read at a q&a section of a site that CTj has additions to the story and includes the two songs that do not appear in the american version. Please confirm or deny this and tell me of any differences you know of.thanks, Leprecbaun58 |
As far as I know, the story is the same in bothversions... the only difference is the music. Thetwo "secret" songs in Chrono Trigger can be listenedto with Game Genie codes... whether or not they're usedin the Japanese version I'm not sure about. Maybesomeone else can fill Allan in (or maybe he'll fillus in himself). The other main difference is in Frog's theme. Inthe Japanese version, it has a trumpet intro andchorus, which is missing from the American version.I've often wondered why it was left out... it reallymade the song, in my opinion. Ah well. It was my idea first, dangit | Hey there AK, if you're still there. I just got back from Spring Break (it's pretty early for us Michiganites)and noticed your comment about Cameron Diaz in the Parasite Eve whilechecking the archive. The funny thing is, I rented Parasite Eve andThere's Something About Mary at the same time last week, and I have tototally agree. She is sooooo hot in that movie, and would fit Aya prettydamn well. I never really thought Madonna would actually be in the movie, justbecause she bought the rights. She'll probably just sit back and makemoney off of it. And, contrary to the other video game based movies, PEactually has a plot (other than go kill M.Bison or Bowzer or Shang Shung),which I thought would be very well suited for conversion to movie. Oh yeah, I did think SoE was better than most people give it credit for,but that guy was insane for liking it over Zelda. Later, Nation |
I'm still here man, still here and loving it! Cameron Diaz is definetely a looker. The trend ingaming sites these days is to have a section ofscantily clad women (it helps boost the hits) justfor kicks. I've been advocating this since theSquare Net days. If we were to do that (which wewon't, it's a joke), Cam would be one of the firstones to go up. She likes fast cars, too. Whata woman! Japanese cartoon torture | It appears that you do not like PokÚmon. We are here to change that.Let us try to make you like it... Method #1: Getting you used to it. PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA!PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! PIKA! No? That didn't work? Then let's try... Method #2: Hypnosis [starts swinging pendulum in front of AK's eyes] You will like PokÚmon... You must catch 'em all... You will then tellall of GIA's staff about PokÚmon... they must like PokÚmon... Theymust catch 'em all... No? It didn't work? Then... Method #3: Torture [straps AK into a chair set in front of a TV, and forces him to watchthe PokÚmon anime] MUAHAHAHA! |
Dude. That was uncool. Good RPGs | wutup AK,Sorry to trouble you with such a boner question. But I couldnt find areview of Xenogears on your site. spring break nears and yours truly willneed some new challenges from his playstation. What RPG would you recommendbesides FF VII and FF tactics(the only ones I own). Tanx -whites |
Hm. Good games. Xenogears is solid, very solid, very enjoyable. I liked it. Lesse, other good PSXRPGs... hmm... I hear Brigandine (even though Ihaven't played it) is pretty fun and addicting. Andif you can hold out long enough, Lunar: Silver StarStory is going to be a winner. The return of andrewk.mid | I've got a MIDI here with your name on it. And I really mean that. It's called andrewk.mid. Is this your handywork, or just a weirdcoincidence? - Jaime Wolf |
andrewk.mid... aaah.. more memories. I wish I couldclaim I wrote that song, but I didn't. It was sequencedby Andrew Thompson as a gift for my birthday manymoons ago. It's a medley of my favorite FF songs...quite the impressive piece of handiwork. If you'rereading this, thanks again AT! Splat Man! | Dear Andrew of the clan of Kaufmann, Tis I, Splat of the clan Man, I challenge thee to a duel of the highest nature, a duel to the death! I hath had enough of thy mocking me. Whilest I may be Splat Man, i hath feelings too thou know? The constant torture of insults to my dignity becomes to much of a strain on me. Prepare yourself Kaufmann...Splat Man cometh! Splat Man, in the guise of the lowly mortal Kevin Strange |
Dear Splat of the clan of Man, I accept your challenge. The time has come for the mento step forward and the children to cower in fear of themight of yours truly. You name the time, the place, and the weapon, and I will burden your mind with theunbearable weight carried by guilt of defeat.
Closing comments A few of yall said that FF's prologue and Zelda's endingtheme weren't even close to similar, and others werepretty sure it was a ripoff of our buddy NobuoUematsu. I'm not sure, so keep sending those questionsto our buddy Allan. Speaking of Allan, he's back, so this is my lastletters column for a while. It's been a lot of fun, thanks guys! Take care! -- Andrew Kaufmann | | | |
