Resident Evil Zero

Where did the Umbrella Corporation begin? How was the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team defeated so quickly in Resident Evil 1? Inquiring minds want to know, and Capcom is set to answer those questions with Resident Evil Zero, the first Nintendo 64-exclusive Resident Evil title.

Taking place before the original Resident Evil, hence the "Zero" moniker, the new game sets up the story of the later episodes. S.T.A.R.S. medical expert Rebecca Chambers will be one of several playable characters; the other characters have yet to be revealed. (The man following Rebecca in several screens is not of one the controllable characters; he's apparently just a helpful NPC.)

Details on any other new features are few and far between, but it's known that the unrealistic "magical storage boxes" have been removed. The story begins on a train; presumably, other locations will appear later on as well. Flagship head Yoshiki Okamoto also claims that Resident Evil Zero will be the most difficult Resident Evil game yet.

Nintendo 64 owners have long clamored for a Resident Evil title to call their own. Angel Studios' port of Resident Evil 2 proved that the Nintendo 64 could handle such a game; now, it's up to Resident Evil Zero to bring the system's fans a unique Resident Evil experience.
