Prerequisites: AF Pirate's Hook
This quest takes place on the SS Buccaneer; if you haven't visited
it before, know that it's a bit different from other areas: while
there's only enemies in a few areas, it's also not a town either.
Most of the action will take place in the Deckhouse, which you can
reach by going down either set of stairs and then passing through the
door. If you want to leave the ship, go through the north door
in the Deckhouse and talk to Cap'n Tusk; tell him you don't like
the ship and he'll throw you off. (Yes, this is the only way to
leave.) All the quests on the Buccaneer are activated by taking
either of the two south-pointing doors in the Deckhouse and talking
to the steersman Ramtieger. You can guide the Buccaneer around by
giving him directions; certain "tiles" (identified by Ramtieger's
quotes -- see the navigation charts map) will activate
different quests.
One of the first two quests you can attempt is "The Quiet Sea";
be sure to bring an NPC along, since the boss is fairly powerful.
Start this one by sailing east three times, then south once. The winds will die down, stalling
the ship. Return to the Quarter Deck (where you started) and talk
to the penguin fishing there. Leave the screen and return. The
penguin now has a bottle, talk to him and he'll open it, releasing
an angry ghost. Go talk to Cap'n Tusk and he'll tell you to find
the bottle that the ghost was kept in.
Descend the stairs found outside either entrance to the Deckhouse.
You're now on the Main Deck, proceed through either the left or
right exit (depending on which set of stairs you took -- take
the right exit from the right set of stairs, and vice versa) to
the hatchway. Descend the stairs here to the Lower Deck. Talk
to the "barrel" and tell the penguin inside that you're a pretty
girl. Talk to the barrel a second time and the penguin will fork
over the ghost's bottle.
Equip yourself with a spear or staff, then return to the surface.
As soon as you set foot on the top of the boat, a penguin will run
up and whisk you off to do battle with the Gova. Since it's flying,
you may have some difficulty hitting it; use the spear or staff's
X button combo attacks to extend your vertical range. The Gova has
some strong attacks, but they're usually easy to see coming. Be
sure to move behind the monster whenever the screen turns red; it's
about to use its "syringe" attack.
When the Gova goes down, the winds will restart. Cap'n Tusk rewards
you the AF Frozen Heart, or a piece of metal if you already had the
Heart. You'll also receive a pet crab that takes up residence in
your library.
Li'l Cactus' quote: "See a ghost?"
Cactus Diary:
"A penguin reeled-in a bottled ghost, and all the penguins on the ship ended up collapsing! That is really scary! But I wonder how the ghost fit inside a bottle?"
