Quest 21 The Looking-Glass Tower More quests

Prerequisites: AF Moon's Mirror

Create the Tower of Leires with the Moon's Mirror. You'll find Pearl waiting at the entrance; talk to her and she joins. Pearl is basically useless; she has no weapon and her sole ability is Crouch. She can, however, serve as a target for the enemies.

Proceed north into the tower. This is the second-longest dungeon in the game; even if you know what you're doing, it can take quite a while to get through. On the other hand, you can earn plenty of experience and lucre by fighting the monsters, and the Dainslaifs often drop good weapons (Braveblade and Throatslitter).

On the first screen of the tower, head east; on the second, go left. Exit left again to the second floor. Head right and step through the door; you're now outside, on a balcony. Climb up the steps and go inside again. Head east and go through the huge door. Examine the gem in the center of the room to teleport up to the sixth floor.

Leave the teleporter room and exit to the left. You're now back on the fifth floor; save your game at the save point if you wish. Head right, but don't go out the door there. Instead, follow the passage in the foreground. Go left on the next screen and go up the stairs. Collect the Demon Meat from the chest, then exit to the left. Ascend the staircase, pass through the seventh floor, and go up more stairs.

On the eighth floor, go left and then down the opening in the foreground. Head right and go through the big door into another teleporter room. Use the teleporter to warp up to the tenth floor. Pick up the Mercury from the right side of the room, then exit to the left. You're now on the eleventh floor; follow the straightforward path until you get to the Room of Fate.

The boss here is the Iron Centaur. Like all bosses, he's invincible while glowing; he can also jump into the air to dodge your attacks. Get out of the way of his shadow and attack him when you get the chance. Watch out for his "machine gun axe" attack. You'll receive some experience and the usual 100 lucre for defeating the boss.

Elazul shows up and asks you to accompany Pearl back down the tower. Work your way all the way back down the tower to the entrance. Try to leave (the entrance is tucked between the pillars and the back wall; it's not the gray area in the background) and one of Sandra's notes will fall down. Pick it up and Sandra herself will appear. She'll summon a Jewel Beast to battle you.

If you haven't fought a Jewel Beast yet, get used to it -- you'll be seeing a lot of them. Fortunately, it's quite easy; it can only move back and forth, so you can easily hit it with special attacks. When the Jewel Beast is defeated, Elazul shows up again. He may give you the AF Frozen Heart if you don't already have it.

Li'l Cactus' quote: "Face the past?"
Cactus Diary:
"A girl went up a tower to see her past, or something like that. I'm losing track of what's going on, and getting a little bit tired of keeping my diary lately."
