Eluria
[08.07.00] » by Michael Collins
We lived in a kingdom of gold
Beneath a starry sky
Where no clouds ever blocked
Our view of the gracious moon.
A peaceful king we had
For a peaceful kingdom
A prosperous land, Eluria.
'Twas never touched by war—
'Till one dark night
Beheld a fright
Of awesome might
A scarlet light!
This light did strike
Our highest tower
With unearthly speed
It fell.
Our King was there
When the meteor struck
His very throne
Alas, he was once alive—
'Till one dark night
Beheld a fright
Of awesome might
A scarlet light!
We tried to move the boulder
But no one would go near it
The bravest soldiers
Cowards before it.
The rock gave an eerie glow
That spread across the land
The people could not escape
But they might have been free—
'Till one dark night
Beheld a fright
Of awesome might
A scarlet light!
Slowly we began to change
Growing fangs where once were teeth
Growing tails and horns
Growing wings and taking flight
Oh, what law had we broken
To deserve such a fate?
For once we were beautiful
Once we were happy—
'Till one dark night
Beheld a fright
Of awesome might
A scarlet light!
