Ghaleon's Tears
[05.26.00] » by DragonBarrel
Beneath the veil you wear so
well,
what fears of which you do
not tell?
What drives your furious
desire
to see the world consumed in
fire?
You see no love and know no
shame
you feel only lack and pain
betrayed betrayer, when do
you weep?
Do you fear your sorrows are
too deep?
Too long you've had far too
much power
too long in that lonely
ivory tower
looking down on those you
guard
your soul is gone, your
heart grown hard.
For the people as a god were
you ranked
always fear in their eyes as
you they thanked
so you turned to a love that
never could die
she was as eternal as the
earth, sea or sky.
But a friend, a true friend,
one of the last,
stole her away, your love
was the past
your goddess was sullied by
that which you scorn
your solace was broken, your
spirit was torn
And so you survived but to
destroy,
mankind killed your soul and
swallowed your joy.
What filled you is hunger
for what you have lost
you would have her back no
matter the cost.
But it was not to be, your
beautiful love
she could not return to her
palace above
so you used her, tried her
power to tame
infused her with your
madness and shame
yet balance would win, your
darkness defied
as your goddess left you
forever you finally died.
Betrayed betrayer, you've
earned your keep,
perhaps, at last, a
dreamless sleep.
